The little girl stomped her foot, crossed her arms, and then turned her head. “I’m not going, and you can’t make me!” Her father spoke lovingly of the day he had planned for them, but she would have none of it. Earlier that day, she had heard her brother mention a trip to the dentist; why should she trust her dad now? He must be trying to trick her or promise one thing but mean another. Yet, had she been a little wiser and been willing to talk with her dad, and if she had remembered all the wonderful things he had done for her, she would have experienced all he was going to do to reward her good behavior. With her child’s mind and perspective, she forfeited the blessings of obedience and created a situation that would eventually end in her saying she was sorry.
Does this little girl sound like us at times? Do we complain and argue and then refuse to talk with our heavenly Father? How quickly we forget Who He is! As you listen to today’s ATM, Dr. Loggins will remind you of God’s many wonderful attributes and then explain how and why we so often refuse to talk with Him. We are His children and even now, as the world turns and staggers, we are tempted to think we are smarter than God and don’t really need Him. What if we uncross our arms, turn back to Him, and have a long, honest talk? It’s time, wouldn’t you say?
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
